Automated Vehicles Industry Survey of Transportation Infrastructure Needs

چکیده
Automated vehicle (AV) deployment can bring about transformational changes to transportation and society as a whole. The infrastructure owner-operators (IOOs), who own, maintain, operate the infrastructure, have opportunity work jointly with AV industry provide safe efficient operations. A key question for IOOs is, “What improvements do manufacturers believe will facilitate improve performance?” This study was designed address this through comprehensive survey approach, including an online follow-up interviews. list of ten questions discussed, covering physical digital maintenance, standards specifications, policy support, data sharing, so forth. researchers reached out more than 60 entities hold testing permit in California. In total, 20 companies responded. They were from different sectors well represented industry. From results study, it is concluded that most important roadway characteristics potential benefit automated driving system (ADS) are: (1) mapping signage; (2) lane markings; (3) zone incident information; (4) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications; (5) actual traffic signals; (6) general (7) lighting. features considered critical help accelerate ADS include road closure information, signal phase timing, congestion. provides diverse voices in-depth insights into topics should engage advance AVs’ deployment.

متن کاملConnected Vehicles- Infrastructure UTC
The goal of the Infrastructure Safety Assessment in a Connected Vehicle Environment project was to develop a method to identify infrastructure safety “hot spots” using connected vehicle data. The premise was to show that using connected vehicle basic safety messages to detect hot spots could allow for a quicker detection than traditional methods using police-reported crashes. This is because th...
متن کاملEfficient Vehicles Versus Efficient Transportation
This paper compares four transportation energy conservation strategies using a comprehensive evaluation framework that takes into account how each strategy affects annual vehicle travel, and therefore mileage-related impacts such as traffic congestion, road and parking facility costs, and crashes. These mileage-related impacts tend to be large in magnitude compared with energy conservation bene...
متن کاملInfrastructure Needs by County
With regional projects factored out (see note at right), eight of the ten counties reporting the largest infrastructure needs in dollar terms were also among the top for total population and for population gains from 1990 to 2001. Those two population factors play a somewhat smaller role in relation to the bottom ten counties. Six of the bottom ten for total report needs were among the bottom t...
متن کاملAn optimization design proposal of automated guided vehicles for mixed type transportation in hospital environments
AIM The aim of this paper is to present an optimization proposal in the automated guided vehicles design used in hospital logistics, as well as to analyze the impact of its implementation in a real environment. METHOD This proposal is based on the design of those elements that would allow the vehicles to deliver an extra cart by the towing method. So, the proposal intention is to improve the ...
